Art historian Dennis Raverty will resent three programs on 20th century Jewish artists at Temple Isaiah.

Temple Isaiah will present a three-session series of lectures on Jewish Masters of 20th Century Art beginning Sunday, Oct. 3. Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about some of the last century’s most famous Jewish artists will be covered in this series presented by art historian Dennis Raverty.

Dr. Raverty is an associate professor at New Jersey City University where he teaches 19th and 20th-century art history, including the art of West Africa, the diaspora and African American art, as well as the Renaissance and Baroque periods in Europe.

He is currently co-authoring a book on American illustration. His articles and criticisms have appeared in numerous art publications.

The series will focus on a variety of artists, beginning with Amedeo Modigliani (Oct. 3), Chaim Soutine and Jacques Lipchitz (Nov. 4) and Lissitzky, Chagall and the Russian Revolution (Jan. 9.)

All sessions will take place on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 PM at Temple Isaiah of Great Neck, One Chelsea Place. There is a donation of $15 per session, and registration is required to either receive the online link or to attend in person.
