The eighth season of Stephen C. Widom Cultural Arts at Emanuel continues on Sunday, March 29, at 3:00 p.m., with a Doo-Wop Concert featuring The Acchords and The Devotions.

One of New York’s Top oldies groups, The Acchords are renowned for their vocal talents which emanate incredible, smooth harmony. Recording Artists Tommy McManus, Warren Tesoro, Phil Point, and Dennis Dell are a vocal group sensation. The Acchords were the recipients of the 2011 Wildwood New Jersey Music Award for being the most original-sounding group of artists on the East Coast today, and for keeping the music of the 50s, ’60s, and ’70s alive. Their original recording of “My Love is True” reached number 10 on the genre iTunes Charts.

The Devotions made history with “Rip Van
Winkle.” They hit the charts with an unforgettable array of timeless songs. Now in their sixth decade,
they are still creating the Doo-Wop musical
wonders that more than thrilled a generation. Created by Ray Sanchez in 1960, in Astoria, Queens,
The Devotions went on to an exceptional career and are still going strong. An American Doo-Wop group, their single of a novelty song
called Rip Van Winkle was released in 1961 on
Delta Records; the tune was re-released on
Roulette Records in 1962 and again on
Roulette in 1963. The tune became a hit on the third release, peaking at #36 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964. Jim Bense, Neil Keefe, Al Vieco and John Williams sing their hearts out, just for you.
