The Great Case Race

Babylon’s “Post Office Cafe” will be holding a special team drinking race. Each four-person team, which must include at least one female, will be racing to finish drinking a case of 24 beers. Registration for the event is $120 per team prior to Jan. 3 and $160 after that date. The first 15 teams to register will also receive Cae Race t-shirts. Proceeds from the event will be donated to a charity decided upon by the winning team. Check-ins begin at 12:30, with the event starting at 1:00. There will be food available following the conclusion of the race.

Learn to Curl

The Long Island Curling Club will be offering a two-and-a-half-hour session in which they’ll be teaching participants how to curl. Participants will learn about stone delivery, sweeping and basic strategy before getting to put what they learned into practice via a game. The event is $50 per person. It’s recommended that participants be at least 12 years of age.

Winter Golf League

“Simplay’s” eight-week winter golf league begins Jan. 6. In addition to keeping their skills sharp, the golfers participating in this league can win a championship trophy and/or prize money at the conclusion of the league’s season. Each week will consist of nine-hole matches. If any golfer is unable to play on a Monday, they can still play their round at any day and time that week. The Theatre Box in Floral Park will be holding auditions for its upcoming play based on the classic Disney story. Among the roles people can audition for are Cinderella, the Prince, the stepsisters, fairy godmother, the queen and village residents. The production will be directed by Donna Dertinger. The show is expected to run from April 24-26 and May 1-3.

The Purple Xperience

The five-piece Prince tribute group, the “Purple Xperience,” will be performing some fo the late singer’s biggest hits. Lead singer Marshall Charloff not only looks and sounds like Prince, but has also worked with him too. Charloff played keyboards and bass guitar while Prince was on lead vocals for the recordings of the band “94 East.” Hailing from Prince’s birthplace of Minneapolis, Minnesota, the group has played for over 300 thousand fans since its inception in 2011.
