Holiday Tree Lighting

Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park will be hosting its 15th annual tree lighting ceremony in celebration of the upcoming holiday season. In addition to the tree lighting, there will be carolers stopping by the gift shop and a poinsettia display in the greenhouse. Coe Hall will also be hosting the Long Island Chamber Music Festival ensemble. Admission to the event is free.

Faking Back Sunday, Dookie, All the Blink Things

A trio of cover bands will be performing at 89 North Music Venue. “Taking Back Sunday” cover band “Faking Back Sunday” will be performing first, followed by “Green Day” cover band “Dookie,” then “Blink 182” cover band “All the Blink Things.” Tickets can be preordered for $10 each, or bought prior to the show for $12. Attendees must be 21 or over to get into the event. Doors open at 7:30 and the show starts at 8:00.

Joey Kola

Comedian Joey Kola will be performing at the Governor’s Comedy Club in Bellmore. Kola has been performing stand-up comedy for over 30 years across the United States, Canada and England. Kola has been voted “Best TV Warm-up Comic” five years in a row by “Time Out NY Magazine.” He’s warmed up several shows throughout his career, including “The Rosie O’Donnell Show,” “The Late Show With David Letterman” and “The Martha Stewart Show.” Tickets are $22 per person. Walking the Line: Johnny Cash/June Carter Tribute Christmas Show

Johnny Cash tribute band “Walking the Line” will be performing at Off Key Tikki. In addition to playing the music of Johnny Cash, the band recreates his look too. Lead singer Thomas Michael Cavanagh dresses up as the legendary singer and also attempts to replicate his mannerisms. The band performs songs by Cash from every decade of his music.

Huntington Arts Council Presents Arts Administrator Forums

This arts education roundtable will present the opportunity for educated professionals to address topics such as interest, exchange and dissemination of information, potentially exploring cooperative opportunities and discussing issues that affect the field at large. Panelists who will be on hand include director of education for the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, Stephanie Turner, director of education and public programs for the Heckscher Museum of Art, Joy Weiner and artist and educator Puneeta Mital. The cost to attend this forum ranges in price from $10 to $20.

Artists Choose Artists 2019

This triennial exhibit from the Parrish Art Museum is meant to highlight the relationships among the multi-generational artistic community on the East End of Long Island. Seven artists will jury the exhibition, with each selecting two artists based on submissions and subsequent studio visits. The exhibition, comprised of the work of the seven jurors and the 14 artists, may include painting, sculpture, photography, prints and mixed media. The event is meant to encourage networking and mentoring between artists at the exhibit.

Ratt

Rock band Ratt will be coming to the Paramount to perform. The group saw large success in the 1980s, releasing three of their six albums during that decade. Their 1984 debut album, “Out of the Cellar,” went triple-platinum, thanks to hit songs like “Round & Round,” “Back for More” and “Wanted Man.” Since their debut album, the band has sold over 15 million records in the United States alone.
