Temple Sinai to host American artists talk

The Island Now

The Temple Sinai of Roslyn is holding “American Artists,” an event to learn about American artists of the 20th century, on Sunday, Nov. 20 from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The afternoon will be presented by Nancy Traeger, a docent at the Nassau Museum of Art, according to a press release from Temple Sinai of Roslyn.

Traeger’s presentation will focus on “All Things American” as painted, printed or photographed by American artists.

Each artist featured presents his/her own vision of American history and of modern American life.

Works studied will include Georgia O’Keefe’s “flowers,” Jasper Johns’ “flags,” Peter Max’s “Statue of Liberty,” and portraits of American women.

Traeger has studied art history, studio art and performance art at the University of Madrid and Lincoln Center Institute and is an engaging presenter.

Refreshments will be served.

Entry price is $5 for congregants and $10 for non-congregants.

Temple Sinai of Roslyn is located at 425 Roslyn Road in Roslyn Heights.
