The Holocaust Through the Eyes of a Survivor’s Daughter: Sculptures by Tmima

Join HMTC for a program that marks the opening of a new art exhibition. Hear from the artist as she describes her career, connection to the Holocaust, and her approach to art.

The exhibition will showcase over 30 works by the acclaimed Nassau County artist Tmima whose art has been shown in hundreds of exhibitions around the world. Her work offers a window into the Holocaust’s long-lasting impact on Survivors and other family members.

Tmima was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, and moved to Israel. At sixteen she was accepted on a full scholarship to Bezalel Academy of Arts, Jerusalem, Israel. After graduating, Tmima received the American-Israeli Cultural Foundation Scholarship.
Tmima continued studying in Italy and Paris, initially focusing on drawings and paintings, but after moving to New York City, she started working on sculptures. Later she moved to Long Island, where she currently has her studio.
The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County will present an opening reception for the new exhibition “The Holocaust Through the Eyes of a Survivor’s Daughter: Sculptures by Tmima,” at 1:00 p.m. at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center, Welwyn Preserve, 100 Crescent Beach Road in Glen Cove.
