Movies by Moonlight 2018

Saturday, July 7 at 6 p.m. (pre-movie activities, with films beginning at dusk)

The Town of Oyster Bay will host free, family-friendly movie nights at local parks this summer starting with “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” on July 7 at Ellsworth W. Allen Town Park, followed by “Paddington 2” on July 21 at Marjorie R. Post Park, “Coco” on July 26 and “Cars 3” on Aug. 2 both at Syosset-Woodbury Community Park, and “Moana” on Aug. 9 at Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Park.

Summer Garden Festival

Sunday, July 8, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Summer Garden Festival will feature live music, kids’ crafts, a trackless train, face painting and more — all on the beautiful grounds of Planting Fields Arboretum.  A $20 fee per vehicle includes all activities for the day.

Children’s Events at Sagamore Hill: Astronomy Program and In the Kitchen with the Roosevelts

Friday, July 13 at 9 p.m. and Wednesday, July 18 at 10:30 a.m.

The historic home of Theodore Roosevelt will host many events this summer, including a night of viewing the stars, planets and other celestial bodies through telescopes with children’s activities on the 13th, and a tour for kids ages 6 to 12 of the estate’s kitchen, which has early 20th-century items and utensils that were used by the Roosevelt family.

Live Performance: “The Wizard of Oz”

Thursday, July 12 and Tuesday, July 17 at 7 p.m.

Plaza Theatrical Productions will present the beloved story involving Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and, of course, the Wicked Witch of the West, with free performances at Memorial Park on the 12th and Clark Botanic Garden on the 17th.

Long Island Loves Movies: Movie on the Plaza

Saturday, July 14 at 8:30 p.m.

The first ever Movie on the Plaza will feature “The Karate Kid.”  Bring your own blanket or chairs for this outdoor movie screening — weather permitting.  Admission is free, but all attendees must RSVP online prior to the event.
