Cirque du Soleil: LUZIA

Citi Field launches its non-gameday series of spring and summer events with Cirque du Soleil: LUZIA.  Coinciding with the Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo, LUZIA takes the audience to an imaginary Mexico, like in a waking dream, where light (“luz” in Spanish) quenches the spirit and rain (“lluvia”) soothes the soul. With surrealistic visual surprises and acrobatic performances, LUZIA brings the sights and sounds of traditional and modern-day Mexico to the stage.

2 Meet Author Susan Meissner

Friday, May 3, 7 to 9 p.m.

From Susan Meissner, the acclaimed author of “Secrets of a Charmed Life” and “As Bright as Heaven,” comes “The Last Year of the War,” a novel that tells a little-known story of World War II that has great resonance for our times. The $30 ticket includes a copy of the book and a beverage (wine, beer, coffee, tea or soda) from the café.

Jonathan Edwards

Friday, May 3 at 8 p.m.

Jonathan Edwards is best known for the hit single, “Sunshine (Go Away Today),” released in 1971.  The catchy lyrics have made this song a staple on ‘70s’ playlists. Now in his fifth decade of performing more songs such as “Emma” and “Sometimes,” Edwards’ music still resonates with music lovers of all ages.

4 The Butterfly Ball

The annual benefit to enhance the Preserve’s beautiful landscape with new features and programs for everyone to enjoy includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a buffet dinner, dessert and dancing.  A “Champagne & Butterflies” VIP reception is optional.  The cocktail attire is butterfly chic.

Sinatra Meets ‘The Sopranos’

‘How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying’

7 Sid Jacobson JCC’s Israelfest
