2 Chamber Orchestra of New York

3 The 151st Running of the Belmont Stakes

Saturday, June 8, gates open at 8 a.m. 

Although there won’t be a Triple Crown winner this year, there will still be much equine excitement and many things to enjoy while picnicking on the beautiful grounds of Belmont Park, including plenty of places to enjoy tasty food and beverages like the Belmont Jewel, the official drink of the Stakes, the Longines fashion contest showcasing fancy duds and hats at 1:30 p.m., horse racing and open betting throughout the day with the final race at around 6:30 p.m., and a live performance by hip hop artist Flo Rida in the evening. General admission is $20 per person.

6 Miles of Blue: In Memoriam — Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo

New York City Police Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo and other fallen line of duty police officers will be honored with an evening of choral, orchestral, and wind band performances, culminating in a music world premiere composed by Brian Balmages and performed by the NYPD Band and Long Island Wind Band Consortium Wind Symphony. Proceeds will benefit the Silver Shield Foundation and Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts.

7 Long Island LitFest presents author Jennifer Weiner

Thursday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m.
