On March 10, 125 students in the Sewanhaka Central High School District gathered for the fifth annual Sewanha-Con event at New Hyde Park Memorial High School.

Sewanha-Con celebrates all things pop-culture related. Students who attended signed up for three activities, including a panel with Marty Grabstein, the voice of Courage, from “Courage the Cowardly Dog,” drawing lessons from comic book artists Michael Grassia and Alex Simmons, a cosplay creation panel, creative writing and a session on creating their own web comics, led by Floral Park Memorial senior Simrohn Iftekhar.

Students also participated in trivia competitions, videogame competitions and an anime screening. Sewanhaka High School librarian Justin Mirsky and New Hyde Park Memorial librarian Nili Resnick organized the event.
