As District Superintendent of Nassau BOCES, Dr. Robert R. Dillon leads the largest educational services agency in New York.
Nassau BOCES is a cooperative of the 56 school districts in Nassau County, which collectively serve more than 200,000 students. In addition to serving as Nassau BOCES chief executive, he is a regional representative for the New York State Commissioner of Education.
Dr. Dillon has been an active leader in education for 35 years, including eight as Superintendent of East Meadow UFSD. He served as the Executive Director of Reform Educational Financing Inequities Today, a consortium of school districts dedicated to fair and equitable education for all students.
He was also the Executive Director of the Mid-Hudson School Study Council, a member of the Board of Directors for the National School Development Council.
A scholarly author, Dr. Dillon has written extensively on the improvement of education, and his work has been published in The American School Board Journal, Long Island Education Review, the Journal of School Leadership and Education News.
In addition, he has presented for several major educational organizations, including the International Conference on Educational Research, the National School Boards Association and the New York State School Boards Association.
As a professor, he has helped to prepare generations of future educators at a number of distinguished colleges and universities.
For these efforts, he has been named Educator of the Year by Phi Delta Kappa
and was presented with the Leaders in Education Award from St. John’s University.
He holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration from St. John’s University, a master’s degree in special education from the College of New Rochelle and a bachelor’s degree in history from St. John’s University.
