Richard Miller of East Williston is the new executive vice president and chief business strategy officer for Northwell Health.

Along with Miller, Michele Cusack was named senior vice president and chief financial officer on Nov. 1.

“Both are insightful individuals with vast knowledge of our health system who have been instrumental in strengthening our financial performance and guiding prospective ventures,” Michael Dowling, president and CEO, said in a Northwell news release.

In this position Miller evaluates Northwell’s business strategy, and oversees revenue optimization and commercial investments.

Miller came to Northwell in 2008 as vice president, financial planning and assumed the role of senior vice president in 2013. He also serves as a chairman of the Northwell Health Plans Holding Co.

Under Miller’s and Cusack’s guidance, the health center will continue to innovate and grow, Dowling said.

“Both will transition into new, complementary roles that will drive our financial health,” he said in the release.

Miller and Cusack succeed Bob Shapiro, executive vice president and chief financial officer, who is retiring after 17 years in the position and almost three decades in health service.
