Eglevsky Ballet’s annual holiday production of “The Nutcracker” to be performed at Long Island’s Tilles Center for the Performing Arts

The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony and the Eglevsky Ballet announce that they will join forces for Eglevsky’s annual holiday production of Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker” to be performed at Long Island’s Tilles Center for the Performing Arts.

For over 50 years, Eglevsky Ballet has brought balletic artistry of the highest caliber to Long Island and has long been recognized as a prominent school and professional company. Each December, the Eglevsky Ballet stages a full production of Tchaikovsky’s magical ballet “The Nutcracker” at the Tilles Center for the Arts, which has become a holiday tradition for Long Island audiences.

“Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker contains some of the most beautiful and captivating music ever written,” says David Bernard, Music Director of the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony and conductor of Eglevsky’s Nutcracker for the past four years. “Bringing this incredible work to Long Island audiences in collaboration with Maurice Curry and his artistic team at the Eglevsky Ballet has been a delight, and I am thrilled to be introducing the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony to Long Island audiences this year.”

A three-time winner of The American Prize in Orchestral Performance, the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony has received critical acclaim for its performances in Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, and for its recordings on the Recursive Classics Label from Gramophone, BBC Music Magazine, The Arts Desk and Classical Candor.

“We are excited to be collaborating with Maestro Bernard and the fine musicians of the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony,” says Eglevsky Ballet’s Artistic Director Maurice Brandon Curry”. “Maestro Bernard’s artistry and enthusiasm as our conductor has been an important part of our production, and we look forward to bringing the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony to our Tilles Center audiences for this season and seasons to come.”

The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony’s collaboration with the Eglevsky Ballet is part of the orchestra’s outreach designed to bring high-quality classical music to Long Islanders. This continues on March 6th with a Gala performance at the Adelphi Performing Arts Center, featuring the award-winning pianist Spencer Myer performing Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto, Verdi’s Overture to La Forza del Destino and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.

The Eglevsky Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker” will be held at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, 720 Northern Blvd, Greenvale, NY 11548, on Saturday, December 18th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and on Sunday, December 19th at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the Tilles Center’s website www.tillescenter.org.
