Eight Port musicians recognized by state

The Port Washington Union Free School District announced that eight outstanding student musicians in Paul D. Schreiber High School were selected to participate in the New York State School Music Association All-State Music Festival. Students were selected based on a rigorous audition process that involved thousands of students throughout all of the state.

“This prestigious event brings together the finest musicians from across New York State. It’s a direct reflection of our students’ hard work and dedication, as well as our staff’s commitment to excellence,” said Michael Hynes, superintendent of Port Washington Union Free School District. “I would like to congratulate our talented musicians, staff and music department who have been instrumental in helping our students achieve this high level of performance.”

Schreiber’s All-State selectees and alternates are: selectee Lily Dell, Voice, Treble Choir; selectee Ian Miller, Voice, Mixed Chorus; Alternate Daniel Chen, Violin; Alternate Casey Fanous, Voice; Alternate Tiffany Guo, Viola; Alternate Stacey Kim, Violin; Alternate Gavin Shaub, Vocal Jazz; Alternate Caleb Thomas, Jazz Drum Set.

“These highly-skilled students have shown diligence, persistence, and attention to detail in their music-making efforts,” said Kevin Scully, Port Washington School District’s creative arts director. “We are grateful for our district administration and our community’s continued support of the arts in Port Washington. Congratulations to all of these students for their accomplishment and to their teachers for their dedication, support, and guidance.
