Elections without rivals

Only three Roslyn villages have positions up for election this year, and not one of those positions yields a contested race.

The Village of Roslyn Harbor, the Village of Roslyn Estates and the Village of Roslyn will each elect a mix of incumbent and newcomer candidates for its various open Board of Trustee positions March 19.

Roslyn Harbor will hold a special election to vote Mayor David Mandell and Trustee Sandy Quentzel to finish their respective terms.

Each was appointed following the resignations of Mayor Yvette Edidin in December and Trustee Cheryl Mora in October 2012.

“The only difference now is that I get more e-mail,” Mandell joked. “I had been signing checks and in contact with our clerk and court, but now I get more e-mails from some of the more important officials in the county and state.”

Edidin and Mora had each sold their homes, though Edidin continued to govern even after moving to California last September.

Edidn was re-elected to office in 2010, midway through her four-year term upon resigning.

Voting will take place at the Village of Roslyn village hall, 500 Motts Cove Road South.

Village of Roslyn Estates incumbents Mayor Jeffrey Schwartzberg, Trustee Jeffrey Lindenbaum and Village Justice Seymour Reisman are all seeking re-election.

Eyal Isaac is running to fill the open trustee position vacated by the departing Stacy Carus.

Voting will take place at the Village of Roslyn Estates village hall, 25 The Tulips.

The Village of Roslyn has three open, unopposed positions on its board of  trustees. Incumbent Mayor John Durkin is seeking re-election, as is incumbent Trustee Marta Genovese.

Planning Board member Sarah Oral is running for Lisa Aberle’s open trustee position.

Voting will take place at the Village of Roslyn, 1200 Old Northern Blvd.

The Village of East Hills has no Board of Trustee positions up for election this year.
