Movies will be shown every Tuesday and Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Elmont Library Theatre. Movie listings can be found on the library’s website or in the library on its flyer for the month of January. Each movie is free and open to the public. No registration or tickets would be required.

Classic Songs with Harmonica Virtuoso Jiayi He and the Northeast Connecticut Community Orchestra

Jiayi He has won prestigious awards in America, Europe and the Far East for his music. He will perform various songs with different kinds of harmonicas in a live event in front of the Elmont Library Theatre. This event is free and open to the public, with no tickets required.

 

 

An Afternoon of Music with Les Degan

Musician Les Degan will attempt to take participants on a fun, engaging and interactive musical journey down memory lane with some of the greatest standards and show tunes ever written. This event is free and open to the public, with no tickets required. It will take place in the Elmont Library Theatre.

 

How to Use Smart Home Devices with Sharper Training Solutions

Saturday, Jan. 11,  10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

 

Learn about the capabilities of Smart Home Products. Included will be Smart Home Speakers, Alexa, Google Home, Google Assistant, Siri, Ring, Nest. Also learn about their securities and if they are truly listening to you. In-person or online registration is required for this event.

 

A Musical History Tour of American Country Music with the Vic Vincent Group

Get your cowboy hats and join the Vic Vincent Group on a Musical History Tour featuring some of your favorite country artists This event, taking place in the Elmont Library Theatre, will be free and open to the public.

 

 

Empire Driver Safety Program

Monday, Jan. 13 and Tuesday, Jan. 14, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

 

This program is sponsored by the Empire Safety Council. Participants must attend both classes to complete this six-hour Defensive Driving Course. Receive ten percent off Collision and Auto Liability/PIP rates on your auto insurance. There is a $28 fee payable to the Empire Safety Council for these classes. Registration is required and can be done online or in-person. The class size is limited.

 

Naughty, but Nice: Pre-Code Hollywood with Phil Harwood

Tuesday, Jan. 14, 12 p.m.

Take a trip back to Hollywood, during the years 1930 through 1934, before the enforcement of the motion picture code, when films offered a wide assortment of naughtiness.
