Spooky Fest returns to L.I.

The Island Now

Spooky Fest 2018, presented by the Center for Science Teaching and Learning, will celebrate Halloween this season with an event that features levels of fright for the whole family.

Spooky Fest will take place at Nassau County’s Tanglewood Preserve, located at 1450 Tanglewood Road in Rockville Centre, on October 13, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. each evening, rain or shine.

This year’s Spooky Fest will feature over 100 actors from various colleges and high schools, who are volunteering their time for CSTL.

For the event, Tanglewood Preserve’s 16 acres are transformed into a family-friendly, Halloween event, with all proceeds going towards CSTL’s programs and facilities, which focus on educating young people about science and rescuing wildlife.

The organization’s mission is to encourage science learning and literacy.

For younger children, there is a “not-so-spooky” walk through the forest, a kids’ arts-and-crafts area, and a meet-and-greet with merry monsters.

For guests seeking more of a thrill, there is a walk through the haunted woods, a maze of zombies, and other heart-racing activities.

“Tanglewood Preserve offers a unique experience unlike any other Halloween attraction or event on Long Island,” said Dr. Ray Ann Havasy of the Center for Science Teaching and Learning.

Now in its 7th year, Spooky Fest has become a family tradition for members of the Long Island community to attend and enjoy.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $10 for non-spooky attractions only; $15 for all-inclusive attractions, including both scary and non-scary.
