Man arrested for burglaries in Manhasset, North Hills

A Manhasset man was arrested Saturday evening for a series of burglaries in the Manhasset and North Hills areas, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

According to detectives, on Saturday at 6:40 p.m. in Plandome Heights, Michael Demedina, 59, of 1177 Northern Blvd., Room 121, illegally entered a Winthrope Road residence, where he removed a wallet containing cash and credit cards.

“When the homeowner, a 66 year old male returned to his residence, he found
the defendant Demedina inside and contacted 911,” police said in a statement. “Responding officers located Demedina a short time later and after a subsequent investigation, placed him under arrest without incident.”

Police added that during his arrest processing, it was determined that Demedina was also responsible for an incident of grand larceny in North Hills on July 11, another incident of grand larceny in Manhasset on Aug. 8, and a burglary in Manhasset on Aug. 23.

Demedina is charged with three counts of burglary and two counts of grand larceny,  He was arraigned Sunday at the Nassau County Courthouse in Mineola. He is represented by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, and is expected to return to court on Sept. 21 and Sept. 23.
