Two Queens men and an unnamed juvenile were arrested Thursday afternoon on weapons charges in Manhasset, according to the Nassau County Police Department’s 6th Squad.

According to detectives, officers were on patrol in the vicinity of the Americana Manhasset at 1980 Northern Blvd. around 4:29 p.m on Thursday. Officers say they observed Brian Muy-Saquipella, 18, of 5530 99th Street, Corona, littering outside a vehicle.

“Officers approached[Muy-Saquipella] and asked for identification, at which point the defendant refused to be cooperative and started to fight with the officers,” officers said in a statement. “While attempting to place [him] under arrest officers could see a gun bulging from a fanny pack on the defendant’s waist. After a brief struggle, [Muy-Saquipella] was placed under arrest.”

During the struggle, a male juvenile, unnamed by police, fled Muy-Saquipella’s vehicle and was located in close proximity to the vehicle with Davon Caldwell, 19, of 16427 109th Drive, Jamaica.

Police said they recovered a handgun from the juvenile, and both were placed under arrest without incident.

All three men are charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, as well as criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds and criminal possession of a firearm, and Muy-Saquipella is additionally charged with resisting arrest and littering.

All three defendants will be arraigned today in Mineola.
