Two men from Queens stole over $28,000 in merchandise from the Dior store in the Americana Manhasset on Sunday night, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

The department’s Sixth Squad detectives said in a statement that Ervis Sula, 31, and Daniel Cardenas, 26, both of Queens Village, broke a glass door leading into the Dior store at 2110 Northern Blvd. at 7:35 p.m. on Sunday.

“The subjects removed merchandise and exited the store,” a police statement said. “The subjects fled from the scene in a Honda Civic with merchandise valued in
excess of $28,000. A description of the vehicle was provided to police.”

Officers located the vehicle “a short time later,” and after an investigation, Sula and Cardenas were placed under arrest without incident, with Cardenas found to be in possession of a substance believed to be heroin, police said.

Sula and Cardenas were charged with burglary and criminal mischief, and Cardenas was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both were arraigned Monday in Mineola at the Nassau County Courthouse. Sula is due back in court on Oct. 21, and will be defended by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County. Cardenas will return to court on Wednesday, and will be defended by Stuart K. Austin of the Mineola-based Austin Law Associates.

This is the third incident to take place at the luxury mall in three months, following a brawl at the Italian restaurant Cippolini being caught on video in June and shots being fired outside the mall in July.

A spokeswoman for the Americana said in a statement to Blank Slate Media that the center was “glad that the suspects were apprehended quickly, and we appreciate the professionalism and diligence of the Nassau County police and our private security team.”
