Kindergartners and first-graders from Floral Park-Bellerose School celebrated the 100th day of school with a parade around the school building.

Students, who dressed as if they were 100 years old, could be seen wearing spectacles, using walking canes and with hair sprayed varying shades of gray. The teachers also took part in the fun, dressing as students for the occasion. As the classes walked and danced around the building, the song “Numbers Rhumba” played, creating a festive mood for all.

At the conclusion of the parade, students headed back to their classrooms where they participated in many 100-day activities, including crafting handmade paper crowns that reflected they were 100 days smarter, and counting groups of items that equal 100.

Teachers agreed that celebrating the 100th day of school provided an opportunity for students to reflect on how much they’ve learned since September in a fun and engaging way.
