Members of Floral Park Memorial High School’s Leos Club, under the direction of adviser Kurt Brechtlein, recently participated in the fundraiser Deaf for a Period. Participants simulated being deaf during their physical education or health classes to raise awareness for the disability of hearing impairment.

The Leos received donations from sponsors, and the monies raised were donated to the Floral Park Lions Club Lend an Ear project to help defray the cost of hearing aids for the hearing impaired. The club raised nearly $1,000 for the organization.
