A Florida man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly driving while intoxicated through East Hills with two children in the car.

Mahendra Ro Samaroo, 39, of Gotha, Florida, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after a Nassau County officer noticed his 2018 Dodge Caravan failing to signal when changing lanes and failing to stay in the lane while heading southbound on Glen Cove Road.

According to police, Samaroo had glassy, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and had alcohol on his breath. His 8-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son were in the backseat during the traffic stop and were released to their mother uninjured.

Samaroo is charged with two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and several other traffic violations.

Samaroo was released on $1,500 cash bail.
