Girl Scouts of Nassau County recently honored men and women for their achievements with the Girl Scouts during the 26th Annual Adult Recognitions Awards Ceremony held at Long Island University in Old Brookville.

Among honorees were local Roslyn Heights residents Khin Mee Chan and Karin Peterson, who were awarded the GSUSA Appreciation Pin.

The GSUSA Appreciation Pin recognizes an individual’s exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This service, which has measurable impact on at least one geographic area of service, helps the Council reach and surpass its mission-delivery goals.

Chan has served three years as the Service Unit cookie chair for Herricks and has promoted and trained community troop cookie managers in her Service Unit, successfully striving to increase participation and sales each year.

Peterson has been a co-leader for the past five years, guiding her mixed level troop and finding creative ways to make it work. Ms. Peterson has a desire to have all girls experience the wonders of Girl Scouting.

The community of Roslyn Heights appreciates the hard work and dedication of these individuals.
