Girl Scouts take Hour of Code

About 25 Girl Scouts from 12 towns throughout Nassau County including Syosset, Great Neck, Lynbrook, and Wantagh participated in a hands-on and interactive Hour of Code™ event at Hofstra University on Friday. The event, hosted by the Department of Computer Science in celebration of Computer Science Education Week (December 3 – 9), was designed to teach the basics of computer science and expose young girls to opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

Approximately 25 Nassau County Girl Scouts participated in a hands-on and interactive Hour of Code™ hosted by Hofstra University’s Department of Computer Science.

The event was in celebration of Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 3 – 9) and designed to teach the basics of computer science and expose girls to opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

Girl Scouts from Syosset, Albertson, Bellmore, Great Neck, Hicksville, Levittown, Lynbrook, Manhasset, Merrick, Valley Stream, Wantagh and Westbury participated in the event.
