A Glen Head woman was arrested early Friday morning for biting a police officer, the Nassau County Police Department’s Sixth Squad reported.
According to detectives, police officers responded to a Ronan Road residence for a verbal dispute involving an intoxicated woman around 7:18 a.m. on Friday in Glen Head.
Upon arrival, police observed the defendant, Christine A. Rehill, 50, of Ronan Road, “intoxicated and acting in a manner that was injurious to herself and others around her,” according to the statement.
“As police rendered aid and attempted to have a Nassau Police Ambulance transport the defendant to a local hospital for treatment, Rehill instead became combative with the officers,” a statement from the department said.
As police tried to gain control of Rehill, she bit the left arm of one of the officers, causing abrasions and pain, police said. Police eventually were able to place Rehill in custody after a brief struggle. Both the officer and Rehill were transported to local hospitals by ambulance and treated.
Rehill is charged with second-degree assault and resisting arrest. She was scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead. While no defense attorney was named on New York State Unified Court System’s website, which did not provide information on the arraignment, Rehill is expected to return to court on Thursday.
