GNPS/TV programs are available on demand, 24/7, on the school district website, greatneck.k12.ny.us/tv. Programs can also be viewed in the incorporated villages of Great Neck on Optimum Channel 75 and on Verizon Fios Channel 32.

Program highlights follow. Show times given are for Optimum and Verizon Fios viewing.

Inside the GNPS/TV Vaults

“Inside the GNPS/TV Vaults” looks back at videos and programs from district archives spanning the past 50 years. Many of these television shows are being seen for the first time since they were broadcast.

Over the last few years, original, fragile tapes from GNPS/TV have been digitally archived on computers. The footage has been preserved and improved for rebroadcasting.

This episode includes highlights from North Middle School’s 1998 musical production of “Annie,” clips from the 2004 North High School video yearbook, the 2006 South High School name-changing ceremony honoring William A. Shine, excerpts of South High’s 2006 production of “Sweeney Todd,” the 2003 North High/South High girls varsity softball game and more.

“Inside the GNPS/TV Vaults” airs at 8 a.m. and 12, 4, and 8 p.m.

Focus on Education

“Focus on Education” is an ongoing series hosted by Superintendent Dr. Teresa Prendergast, highlighting what’s new and interesting in the district. This episode features an interview with the new administrative team at South Middle School: newly-appointed principal Gina Cartolano and new assistant principals Leonard DiBiase and Ryan Nadherny.

“Focus on Education” airs at 10 a.m., and at 2, 6, and 10 p.m.

Student Filmmakers Showcase

The showcase highlights short films produced, edited, and directed by middle and high school students. It offers a variety of films and styles. Many of the films originate from media classes around the district. The program is hosted by Robert Zahn, district director of educational television and broadcast media.

“Filmmakers Showcase” airs at 11 a.m., and 3, 7, and 11 p.m.
