Great Neck Cub Scouts Pack 178 is working to support local restaurants and food pantries to help ease the hardship endured by many in the community during this pandemic. Pack 178 recently partnered with Great Neck’s local Mexican Restaurant Senor Nacho to hold a fundraiser for St. Aloysius’ Food Pantry. Taco Tuesday was an event where customers could order their food for pick up, dine in or have a Cub Scout deliver it to their door.

Parents and Scouts from Pack 178 volunteered to drive their Scouts to deliver the food. The uniformed Scouts were excited to get involved in helping. Scout Brendon Chen said “It was fun and a great opportunity to help the community. I also got to deliver food to some people that I know”.

The fundraiser was advertised through social media and word of mouth through our community. Close to 50 orders were placed and over $700 were raised in sales, tips and donations. Pack 178 contributed the rest to donate a total of $1,000 to St. Aloysius’ Food Pantry where the number of needy families has doubled since the start of the pandemic.

Great Neck Cub Scouts Pack 178 is a youth organization that teaches and trains boys and girls from Kindergarten to 5th grade through activities fostering independence and community involvement by engaging them in civic duty, community service and learning about first aid, camping, fitness and other useful skills.

Great Neck Cub Scouts and Senor Nacho would like to say thank you to the local community for all the support we received around this initiative. If you’d like to find out more about the Great Neck Cub Scouts, you can find us on-line at https://www.greatneckcubscouts.com.
