Great Neck Library 2019 election information

Eligible voters will elect one person to the Board of Trustees for a four-year term (January 2020 -January 2024) and one person to the Nominating Committee for a three-year term (January 2020 – January 2023) to fill the seats that will be expiring in January 2020.

Those elected will take office at the Library Association Annual Reorganization Meeting in January 2020.

Candidates

For expiring Board of Trustees seat of Scott Sontag, the Nominating Committee candidate is Scott Sontag.

For the expiring Nominating Committee seat of Patrick McDonnell, the Nominating Committee candidate is Steve M. Jacob.

Voter Eligibility

In order to vote, you must be 18 years of age or older, a resident of the Great Neck School District and either a valid Library card holder by the record date of Oct. 7, 2019 or a registered voter with the Nassau County Board of Elections.

To obtain a valid Great Neck Library card, present one form of identification showing your name and Library School District address at the circulation desk of any Great Neck Library location.

In-person voting will be held on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Voting sites are the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue, Great Neck 11023 for those residents who live north of Northern Boulevard; and the Parkville Branch Library, 10 Campbell Street (off Lakeville Road), New Hyde Park 11040 for residents who live south of Northern Boulevard.

Voting by Proxy: Proxies must be requested on a form provided by the Library. Proxy request forms are available at all Great Neck Library locations, on the Library’s website at greatnecklibrary.org and also in the Library’s Newsletter. Oct. 22 is the last day for the Library to mail proxy ballots. Arrangements will be made by the Director’s Office for proxies to be picked up in person for proxy requests received after this date. Completed proxies must be received at the Main Post Office on Welwyn Road by Oct. 25 before 5 p.m. or deposited in a locked box at Main or the Branches before 5 p.m. on this date.
