Great Neck school board approves partial school tax exemptions

The Great Neck Board of Education has approved a resolution to continue to honor partial school tax exemptions for qualified individuals in these groups: senior citizens with limited income, persons with disabilities and limited income, volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers, Gold Star parents and veterans, including cold war veterans.

These resolutions were approved at the Dec. 17 Board meeting, and exemptions apply to the 2018 tax year. Applications for all partial tax exemptions are due before the taxable status date of Jan. 2, 2019.

Exemption requirements and qualification guidelines are explained on application forms. Forms are available in person from the Nassau County Department of Assessment, 240 Old Country Road, Mineola, NY 11501.

The Great Neck Board of Education has provided relief to senior citizens since 1970, to persons with disabilities and limited income since 1984, to volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers since 2005, to veterans and Gold Star parents – parents of a child who died in the line of duty while serving in the U.S. armed forces during a period of war– since 2014, and to cold war veterans since 2016.
