Four students from the Great Neck Public Schools were selected to perform in the 2019 Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE) National Conference Choirs Concert on March 23.

North Middle School students Daliah Segal and Logan Ye, and E.M. Baker School students Julianna Miano and Ellie Segal, were nominated for these honor choirs by Baker vocal music teacher and OAKE member Cynthia Gorney.

The 2019 OAKE National Conference Choirs Concert in Columbus, OH, featured 468 students representing 35 states. Participants were selected by the National Choir Committee following a challenging audition process.

During the OAKE National Conference, choir members rehearsed with nationally and internationally-recognized conductors. The culminating concert included selections by Handel, Kodály, and other master composers, as well as the world premiere of a new choral work by American composer Douglas Beam.
