Ippon closed its doors in Great Neck on Sunday, former restaurant owner Adrian Chau said, but a new Japanese eatery is expected to open there soon.

In its place at 6 Bond St. will be Yahao Asian Cuisine following the approval of a conditional use permit to operate a Japanese eatery on the premises, with the facility to be operated by Wen “Danny” Chen and Jing Chen.

Chau said that the site plan and offerings will remain largely the same, and that the restaurant will open “hopefully next week.”

Wen Chen said the opening date has not yet been finalized and did not respond to further requests for comment.

Ippon opened in August 2017, offering Japanese meals like ramen noodles and rice bowls, as well as a sushi bar. Preceding it was Era Asian Cuisine, an Asian fusion restaurant that had been open for about 13 years, according to Facebook.

The closing of Ippon follows at least two other closures: Element Seafood on South Station Plaza, which had operated for just under a year, and Ren Wen Noodle Factory, a noodle eatery that said it “will be temporarily closing this location to readjust our restaurant to better meet your needs” after four months.

In other business, trustees also gave their blessing to the opening of Station Plaza Deli at 14B South Station Plaza, which would likely open in a few months after transforming the former gym into a deli.
