Dr. Jill P. Karpel, a long-time Great Neck resident, succumbed to several illnesses on Sunday, June 13, at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn.
Karpel, a prominent pulmonary physician, currently was part of the Great Neck medical practice with Dr. Joseph Genovese and Dr. Sanford Ratner.
In addition to office and hospital practices over the years, Karpel lectured at hospitals and medical conventions all over the world. As well, Karpel also spent many years as a clinician and researcher. She has long been considered an expert in the field of pulmonary medicine.
Many of the young pulmonologists and general doctors of today trained under Dr. Karpel. Many are practicing in the Great Neck area.
Karpel is survived by her husband Dr. Robert Lynn and their daughter Elizabeth, as well as her sister Wendy Karpel Kreitzman and her husband Ralph Kreitzman, and their daughters Susan Kreitzman Walczuk and Emily Wachtel.
Services were held at Nassau North Chapel on Tuesday, June 15.
