The Village of Kings Point Board of Trustees approved $1.5 million in serial bonds for roadwork on Monday night, following the awarding of a $1.12 million contract with Stasi Industries Inc. to redo three of its roads and other work.

Village Clerk-Treasurer Gomie Persaud said Stasi Industries, a Westbury-based asphalt contractor, offered to do the specific roads for $1.08 million and additional work for $35,500.

This made the company the lowest of five bidders.

Michael Moorehead, the superintendent of public works in Kings Point, said the work will address all of Lighthouse Road and Catalina Drive, as well as Tideway Street from Kings Point Road to the turnaround.

“We’re trying to get all of the roads taken care of that haven’t been taken care of,” Moorehead said, noting these roads haven’t been fixed in at least 30 years.

Drainage upgrades and block replacements will also be part of the work, Moorehead added.

The starting date for construction is unclear.
