Restaurant Week returned to Great Neck Plaza on Sunday, with 11 restaurants offering special full course meals for a set price of $27.95.

The village of Great Neck Plaza and its Business Improvement District have been co-promoting the event for many years, organizers said, with the aim of promoting the village, its restaurant and the downtown.

“It’s an introduction to a new restaurant or an introduction to an old restaurant from a new consumer,” Jay Corn, vice president of the Great Neck Plaza Business Improvement District, said on Tuesday. “It’s a reason for people to go into town and try our restaurants.”

Great Neck Plaza Mayor Jean Celender said that while the village has always had great restaurants and worked to promote them, she believes this year’s lineup showcases greater diversity of what the downtown has to offer.

“It’s a pretty diverse group of restaurants,” Celender said, adding that their participation gives residents a chance to try something new.

This year’s participating restaurants include Ippon, Colbeh, Bareburger, Element Seafood, Saaho Village, Royal Tea House, La Rotonda, Burger Village, Ruby Divine Indian Dining, Brasserie Americana and Great Neck Diner, according to the BID’s website.

They include a mix of newcomers to Great Neck Plaza, like Element Seafood, Saaho Village and Ruby Divine Indian Dining,  the village’s first Indian restaurant, and seasoned Restaurant Week veterans like La Rotonda, Ippon and Colbeh.

“Restaurant Week is a great opportunity to experience the wonderful food we have available in the Plaza at affordable prices,” said Maria Coscia, the promotions manager of the Great Neck Plaza Business Improvement District.  “Guests can choose from a variety of restaurants and try a different kind of cuisine each night of the week, including Asian, Italian, American, Greek and Mediterranean.”

Restaurant Week will continue until Sunday, Dec. 10. A date for next year’s Restaurant Week has not yet been set.
