Nassau County police rescued a kitten that was trapped in the bottom of a window well of a Russell Gardens residence on Saturday.
According to a news release from the Police Department, officers responded to a Wensley Drive house on Saturday afternoon for an animal trapped in a basement window well for two days. The officers were informed that the window well was located on the rear side of the house before climbing through thick bushes, according to the release.
Officers then noticed a gray kitten trapped at the bottom of the window well, ultimately bringing it to safety. According to officials, the kitten appeared to be approximately four weeks old and was unharmed. A family member of one of the officers who rescued the kitten will adopt the stray kitten and take it to a veterinarian for evaluation, according to the release.
Efforts to reach the officials for further information about the incident were unavailing.
