The NPD Group, a Port Washington-based market research firm, and Habitat for Humanity in Nassau County broke ground on a Great Neck house at 18 Manor Drive Monday morning which they say will go to a family in need.
Local Nassau County officials, NPD Group executives and board members of Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit group that provides housing for low-income people by helping to build, renovate and repair homes, attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
“As we have done for over 27 years, Habitat Nassau County’s goal is to inspire hope for families in need by building strength, stability and self-reliance through helping them obtain their own home, usually for the first time in their lives,” said Myrnissa Stone-Sumair, the executive director.
NPD Group and Habitat for Humanity officials said the company will be serving as the corporate sponsor, with dozens of employees volunteering more than 1,000 hours to support the project.
“NPD was founded on Long Island, our headquarters for over 50 years, and throughout this time we have been committed to giving back to our community,” NPD Group CEO Karyn Schoenbart said. “We are thrilled to partner with Habitat for Humanity on this important mission to improve our neighborhoods and the lives of the people within them.”
