Lakeville Branch Closing for Month of November
The Lakeville Branch will be closed for the month of November for some “sprucing” including painting and carpet cleaning. It is anticipated that the branch will reopen by the end of the month. The Library will keep the public posted.
AARP Driver’s Safety Course at Parkville
Take a refresher driving course for drivers aged 50 and over for reduction in points or discounts on insurance on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Parkville Branch, 10 Campbell St. (off Lakeville Road), New Hyde Park. Sylph Chamber Music with Crystal Singing Bowls at Main arranged by the Music Advisory Committee
Nadine Scharman, flutist, Ann Zalkind, pianist, and Andrea Randa quartz crystal singing bowls/vocals will perform Baroque, Romantic, World Music and original compositions on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 1:30 p.m. in the Main Library’s Community Room, 159 Bayview Ave. These beautifully toned instruments of meditation provide peace and healing. Concert arranged by the Music Advisory Committee.
The Great Neck Library Music Advisory Committee, now in its 49th year, is co-chaired by founding member Gabe Chieco and Michele Ganz and includes members Estelle Pace, Robert Schaufeld, Donna Litke, Joan Brill-Pavlovic, Ellen Charlop, and Pamela Levy. This all-volunteer committee of Great Neck residents represents a wide range of musical experience and performance.

James Coll is an adjunct professor of American and constitutional history at Nassau Community College, an NYPD detective and the founder of ChangeNYS.

Carolyn received her 200-hour yoga certification at Long Island Yoga School in 2009 and has continued to work in and study many other holistic solutions to health including Mindfulness Meditation and Reiki.

Dr. Frank Cacace has been a general internist with Northwell Health since 1997 and is currently the Associate Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine. He is an associate professor of medicine at Hofstra School of Medicine.
Food Drive Collection at Great Neck Library
All four Great Neck Library locations are participating as drop off donation centers for a Food Drive collaboration between Senator Anna Kaplan’s Office and Island Harvest. Non-perishable donations of food are greatly appreciated to help Long Island families in need. Donation bins will be available until a week before Thanksgiving and are located at the Main Library, 159 Bayview Ave.; Parkville Branch, 10 Campbell St. (off Lakeville Road), New Hyde Park; Station Branch, 26 Great Neck Road (2nd level), Gardens at Great Neck Plaza, above Best Market; Lakeville Branch, 475 Great Neck Road.
Veterans Donation Drive at Main Library and Parkville Branch
Donations for the Veterans Donation Drive to benefit the Northport VA Medical Center will be accepted through Dec. 6 at the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue, and Parkville Branch, 10 Campbell St. (off Lakeville Road), New Hyde Park.
The Drive is presented by the Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth, the Town Board, and the Town’s Veterans Advisory Committee.
New items only. Items needed are: Trial size toiletries including toothbrushes, toothpaste, quad track razors, shaving cream, unscented body lotion, brushes and combs, deodorant, nail clippers and shampoo; New (or gently used) luggage with wheels; Crocheted blankets (approx. 48” X 60” or larger); Clothing of all types (sizes large and up) are also welcome
