Hempstead Town kick off summer with The Commodores

The Island Now

It’s time to get your red, white and blue on with a patriotic evening at Town Park Point Lookout featuring a performance by The Commodores!

Supervisor Don Clavin – along with Senior Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, Councilman Bruce Blakeman, Councilman Anthony D’Esposito, Councilman Dennis Dunne, Sr., Councilman Tom Muscarella, Councilman Chris Carini, Town Clerk Kate Murray and Receiver of Taxes Jeanine Driscoll – is inviting all residents to attend this free concert on Saturday, June 26. The festivities start with the town’s annual Salute to Veterans ceremony at 7:30 PM, followed by the Commodores at 8 p.m., and concluded by a spectacular fireworks show.

“A well-deserved “Staycation” is underway as this world-renowned ’70s band performs live for the residents of the Town of Hempstead,” stated Supervisor Clavin. “I am so excited to re-open our community and be back together again just in time for some amazing performances.”

The extravaganza kicks off the town’s annual Free Summer Concert Series, with great bands coming to a community near you throughout the summer.

Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to set up on the lawn to enjoy the evening’s festivities.

Attendance and parking are free for Town of Hempstead residents. Please note: due to safety regulations being implemented for the fireworks show, no one will be permitted to leave the park between 8:30 PM until after the fireworks have concluded and an “all-clear” has been communicated to the park. Announcements will be made throughout the evening.
