Herricks High School sophomore Carolyn Lau was awarded first place in the annual Carl Sandburg Poetry Contest for her piece, titled, “Stuck in Some Time.”
This is the third major honor for Carolyn this year – she recently won first place in the Ringling College of Art and Design’s Sixth Annual “Storytellers of Tomorrow” High School Creative Writing Contest and a number of her pieces received Gold Key awards or Honorable Mentions in the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards program.
