Two string quintets from Herricks Middle School were selected to perform in the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Young Ensembles Concert on May 23. Ms. Krista Weis, the orchestra director, coached the students prior to their acceptance. The eighth graders selected were William Dai and Christopher Frangopoulos on cello, Brian Kim, Ellie Kim, Jeylin Lee and Liam Tan on viola, and Hailey Ko, Ashley Lam, Kailey Simons, and Katherine Yee on violin.
This highly competitive program, consisting of two professional coaching sessions as well as the concert performance, selected only eight chamber music ensembles from the tri-state area to participate.
