Herricks Public Schools has appointed Shakia Hall as food services director, effective Jan. 8. The role was previously held by retiree Annemarie Cacciatore.

Hall joins the district with more than 15 years of experience in the culinary arts field and most recently served as school service manager for New York City SchoolFood, where she was responsible for five schools.

Hall has been involved in food budgeting, staff and inventory management, ensuring compliance with regulations, menu planning, sanitary procedures, dietary modifications, employee training and more within the education setting. She also conducted monthly nutrition meetings for parents, staff members and principals.

“I pride myself on being creative in meal choices while ensuring nutritional and health needs are being achieved,” Hall said.

Earlier in her career, Hall was a pastry chef and prepared a variety of baked goods, created dessert menus and developed appealing food presentations.
