Ebooks and Audiobooks: Getting Started with Libby Friday, March 5 at 9 a.m. A 30 minute session will get you up to speed on everything you need to know to use Libby. Please go to the library’s website to register.

Computer Cleanup and Security Tuesday, March 9 at 1 p.m. In this lecture and demo class, students will learn from the computer experts at Sharper Training Solutions, how to clean up their Windows computer, improve performance and speed up tasks, protect it from viruses and spyware, and much more. Prerequisites: For intermediate and advanced users.

Learn basic MEMORY techniques: Short term/long term memory games; Positive thinking; Nutrition and strengthening the brain’s connections and building new brain cells; Meditation; New ways to train the brain to think…and more!

Colon Cancer Awareness: What Everyone Should Know Wednesday, March 10 at 7 p.m. Colorectal Cancer is one of the only truly preventable cancers thanks to screening. In this Zoom program Northwell Gastroenterologist Dr. Robert Brunner will present an illustratrated lecture with a focus on the prevention and treatment of colon and rectal cancer. This program is brought to you courtesy of Nassau Libraries Health Share.

Book Discussion – Fresh Fiction Book Club Wednesday, March 10 at 7 p.m. The book being discussed is: A Long Petal of the Sea by Isabel Allende. From the author of The House of the Spirits, this epic novel spanning decades and crossing continents follows two young people as they flee the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War in search of a place to call home.

Meditation for Health and Wellness Thursday, March 11 at 7 p.m. Meditation is being prescribed by many medical practitioners and has been widely recognized as a means to enhance one’s health and reduce stress. Join Nirav Sheth, a longtime meditator for this lively and engaging workshop.

CHILDREN and YOUNG ADULT EVENTS
Time for Kids: Pete the Cat! Friday, March 5 at 1:30 p.m. Ages: Birth- 5 years (with parent/caregiver). Come join A Time for Kids, Inc. in this “groovy” family preschool program all about our favorite character Pete the Cat! Activities will include music, movement, fine & gross motor development and storytelling! There will also be a cool counting activity! Suggested materials: 4 counting items (buttons or spoons or toys or blocks); Musical instruments

Stemtastic- Zip Lines! Monday, March 8 at 4:30 p.m. Grades: K-4 (parental help w/ younger grades). Get ready engineers to build our own zip line, fit for a small to have a thrill. We’ll design, build & improve our zip line as we test the best angle and weight for the line. Materials: Thin string, i.e. lanyard, fishing line or dental floss; paper clip; paper cup; hole punch; scissors and a small toy to ride inside the cup.
**You can pickup your kits for the event on (Tuesday, March 2nd) & (Thursday, March 4th) from (12 pm-7 pm) and Friday, March 5th from (11 am-4 pm).
