Katie Krafchik of New Hyde Park, 12, qualified for the 2022 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Nashville, Tenn. in January.
She is ranked 3rd in the Eastern section and 7th in the nation as a Junior Lady. This is a tremendous accomplishment, in particular at such a young age to be on a national stage at this level.
Her program entails multiple triple jumps and triple combinations with difficult spins and steps sequences.
You did an article about Katie at the end of 2019 when she was a juvenile level skater, and since then she has advanced 3 levels and is a top Junior skater in the nation and on Long Island. Katie stepped on the ice at 5 years old and it was an immediate love for her. She dreams of going to the Olympics.
