“Kevin Can Wait” stars to perform at The Paramount

The Island Now

The Paramount in Huntington will host two of Long Island’s favorite comedians, Kevin James on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m., and Gary Valentine on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m.

Currently the star of the hit CBS sitcom, “Kevin Can Wait,” James began his career as a stand-up on the Long Island comedy circuit. After being discovered at the 1996 Montreal Comedy Festival, he signed a network development deal to create his own sitcom. “The King of Queens” premiered in 1998 and ran for nine seasons on CBS. While the show ended in 2007, it continues to air daily in syndication across the country and around the world.

James has produced and starred in TV specials for Comedy Central and HBO, as well as the hit film comedies “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 1 and 2,” “Zookeeper,” and “Here Comes the Boom.” He made his big screen debut in the film “Hitch,” starring opposite Will Smith, and has starred alongside Adam Sandler in “Pixels,” “Grown Ups,” “Grown Ups 2” and “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.” James has also lent his voice to several animated films, including the “Barnyard for Nick” movies, and starred in the Netflix feature, “True Memoirs of an International Assassin.”

In case you can’t make his February appearance, James will return to The Paramount on Sunday, March 18 at 7 p.m.

Valentine also stars in “Kevin Can Wait,” playing Kevin’s fireman brother, Kyle Gable. He appeared as Danny on “The King of Queens” for nine seasons during which time he also wrote several episodes.  Additional television credits include “Fargo,” “Chelsea Lately” and “Men of a Certain Age,” as well as his own stand-up special, “Comedy Central Presents: Gary Valentine.”

Like James, Valentine has been headlining comedy clubs and theaters for the past 20 years, with appearances on various talk shows including “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”

Valentine’s performance, My Funny Valentine, will also feature fellow comedians Cisco Duran, Mick Thomas and Jessica Kirson, with special guest Kevin Dombrowski.
