Enrollment for the Great Neck public and private school kindergarten programs for the 2020–21 school year will begin in January 2020. Effective September 2019, all registration applications are now processed online (as opposed to the former paper version).
The window to submit online registration applications for kindergarten for public and private schools will open on Jan. 1, 2020. After an online application is submitted, parents must complete the process at the Registration Office during the designated registration period, from Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 31. Registration will take place at the Office of Registration, Phipps Admin. Bldg., 345 Lakeville Road, on school days from 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Any child who legally resides within the school district and will be at least five years old on or before Dec. 1, 2020, is eligible to register for kindergarten for the 2020–21 school year. All children who will attend public or private school kindergarten in September 2020 need to be registered. Please note that students currently enrolled in the district’s Universal Prekindergarten program do not have to be registered for kindergarten.
The following items are necessary to register a child for kindergarten: (1) Proof of district residency (deed, current tax bill, or closing statement, if ownership; current signed lease or current rent receipts, if rental). (2) Three pieces of current, official mail. (3) Child’s original birth certificate. (4) Parent or guardian valid photo ID. (5) Parental control papers (if applicable). (6) Immunization certificate signed and stamped by a physician or other authorized health agency.
Directions for the online application process can be found on the district website at https://www.greatneck.k12.ny.us/registration. For more information about registering your child for kindergarten, please contact the Registration Office at (516) 441-4080, or e-mail: [email protected].
