The Kings Point village board will vote on April 9 on a resolution that would require certain construction projects to put up a temporary fence in areas deemed unsafe.

The board decided on the date during last Thursday’s meeting.

The resolution would make it mandatory for temporary fences to be constructed whenever construction occurs that the building inspector finds to “create an unsafe condition.”

The fence would be removed when the construction is done, or when rendered safe and directed by the building inspector.

The chain-link fence should be six feet high, continuous around the area and have at least one gate.

No commercial advertising, signs or other images can be on the fence.

On April 9 the board will also hold a public hearing for the proposed budget.

The details of the budget proposal are not yet available but will be disclosed during the budget hearing, according to village Clerk Gomie Persaud.

The board will also vote on a resolution that would allow the village to exceed the tax levy limit.

While the board does not expect to exceed the tax levy set by the state, the law is a precautionary measure, said Mayor Michael Kalnick.

The board will also vote on a resolution amending the zoning code that would would make approved conditions void if the conditions are not done within nine months of the board’s decision.

An application for an extension on the nine-month period would be made in writing to the board, and no notice to the public would be required in granting an extension.
