Police arrested a Kings Point man for attempting to bribe Great Neck Estates officers on Saturday evening, police said.

Detectives said that Jacob Tal, 21, a Helen Lane resident, went to Great Neck Estates Police Department Headquarters, approached a police officer, and then offered them money and drugs so they won’t pull him over or write him any tickets later.

The police officer refused and placed the defendant under arrest, police said.

A Great Neck Estates Police Department representative said he could not recall anyone ever trying to bribe police there before and referred further comment to the Nassau County Police Department’s Public Information Office.

Tal is being charged with attempted bribery of a public servant in the third degree and was arraigned on Sunday, Oct. 8, in the First District Court in Hempstead.

Tal’s next court date is set for Oct. 11.

There is currently no defense attorney listed in online court records.
