The Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation is sponsoring its 8th LSLF Bike Tour and 3rd BayWalk for Research. Once again the Peter and Jeri Dejana Family Foundation is the major sponsor of the events.

Both events raise funds to find cause and cure for leukemia and allied cancers. The foundation was initiated in memory of Schreiber High School graduate, Lauri Strauss, who succumbed to leukemia at age 26. Over the years much has been accomplished to make treatments more varied and successful, but the end results still evade us. Contributions to our cause will bring that day closer.

The bike tour consists of three lengths, 3.3, 14 and 21 miles. The shorter stretch enables riders to make this a family affair by letting their younger children join in. The longer rides are energizing and scenic through Port Washington and surrounding areas.

The BayWalk is down along Port Washington’s charming Main Street continuing along Manhasset Bay. The area has been beautifully designed and executed by the Village of Port North.

To add to the festivities, Port’s local apparel and gift shops will be holding LSLF Shopping Days from May 16 to 18. A portion of the receipts during those days will be generously donated to the foundation.

Refreshments, T-shirts and a favor and a raffle ticket will be offered at the event to all participants.

Raffles will be for sale at the event. The raffles constitute welcomed donations from many of the varied local merchants and delicious restaurants located on our special peninsula.
