Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum of Great Neck presented a Nassau County Legislature Citation to decorated World War II veteran Philip Kahn as part of a celebration of his 100th birthday at the Great Neck Social Center’s December meeting of its Veterans Club.
Khan spent much of the celebration sharing wartime stories with other veterans and invited guests to view his medals and military documents from his service.
“It was truly an honor and a privilege to celebrate Philip’s 100th birthday with his friends, family and fellow veterans,” Legislator Birnbaum said. “Service members like Philip helped free humanity from tyranny at one of the world’s darkest hours, and we are all deeply grateful for his courage and valor.”
